Finally, I want to tell you about the main reason we went to Italy in detail: We visited the Expo Riva Schuh international shoe fair in Riva del Garda!
Expo Riva Schuh establishes itself as the most important international fair dedicated to the production footwear sector. More than 1,300 companies and almost 10,800 operators are meeting on 32,000 square net metres of fair ground every half year!
And to be quite honest: I think fairs are so much more useful to discover and distinguish new trends and styles than fashion weeks just because of the sheer amount of exhibited objects. I could clearly make out the main trends for fall/winter 2015/16 and even though these pictures only show a teensy tiny bit of what was exhibited at the fair (you can imagine, right?!), I hope you enjoy discovering some of my favourite styles!
Some trends we predict to be big next winter: big, heavy soles on pointy flats and boots. Tassles, buckles and zippers as detail on otherwise minimal shoes. Crazy sneakers with a lot of material mix on them. Rubber shoes of any kind (we saw a lot of those) and – unfortunately – even more animal print and furry uppers.
Oh! And after a busy day one, we even were invited to a little sparkling wine session including a small appetizer from an Italian master chef. It was incredible and let me tell you: super tasty!
It truly was a very exciting travel and fair and I hope to be back for the next edition! What trends would you hope to see back in winter 2015/16?? Any wishes?
