Only 8 days left until Christmas. If you’re still looking for gifts, look no further.
My sweeties, even if I’ve already told you in this post, why it’s actually so much nicer to give something self-made and personal for Christmas (just like I did with the portraits that I illustrated myself), I can also easily understand if some of you simply don’t feel like they can actually create something themselves OR that they just don’t have the time for it. And that’s totally okay.
After all, it’s only eight days until Christmas eve and with all the stress at work, including finishing lots of business stuff, it’s not for everyone to “simply” sit down and enjoy the privilege of a calm moment to become creative.
But you know what? To just take a moment and really think about what would be a nice little personal (not self-made) gift for someone is just as good. As long as you don’t buy the first best thing but try to find something that really makes them happy.
This is why I’ve created a beautiful little gift guide, based on the preferences of the people around me. Just to show you that if you think “what does he or she REALLY enjoy?”, you’ll definitely find something that will make a difference and stay in their minds. I really hope you’ll love this little (big) gift-guide and perhaps, you’ll find one or the other last- minute idea for your Christmas gift shopping, too.
My last-minute gift-guide for the special people around me:
Gifts for your man – well, that’s not a simple story. Sometimes, they’re more difficult than we are, only they would never say. But I believe I know my Max well enough by now to be able to judge what kind of gifts he would really appreciate. As a skater, he really enjoys skate brands like Element or Vans, which is why I believe that he’d actually love these sneakers. And as a photographer, the Sigma Art 50mm 1,4 lens would be the perfect addition to his lens collection. But also a bottle of Dom Perignon, of which he especially loves the tag, would probably make him smile a lot. And well, he loves Aston Martin and classic cars in general (just like me), so we’d both love the picture book about the famous British automobile company and their classic models. Anyway, the best gifts are the ones that you can share, right? With this book, we could – and drink some champagne on the side, hehe.
As you can probably guess from the above picture, my best friends are mainly men, not women. And naturally, you’d give your best boys rather some liquor or coffee than perfumes and sweets. That’s the way it is. At least I know how to make them happy, hehe. Or how about a cool new TV show? Of course, nowaways, everyone owns Netflix, but some shows are just too good to not own them physically, too. Ash vs. Evil Dead, for me, is such a show for me. It’s funny, it’s bloody, it’s ridiculous and just so so enjoyable. If you love splatter horror, this one is a must!
If you have brothers or sisters, you’ll probably know best what to give them to make them really happy. After all, you’ve known each other (nearly) all your lives. My sister at least is someone that is so close to me, we don’t even have to talk to know what the other things. So much fun! So, I know that my sister needs a new backpack. She’s always using one and could really use a new one that lasts a little longer. Also, she really likes the music of Bob Dylan which is why she’d probably really enjoy this book. And of course, a little piece of jewelry is something that every girl likes. With her astrological star sign, it becomes really personal. Oh, and my sister and I both share a big love for England and food specialties from the island. So I always give her something small and British, like some crackers. Salted caramel is the best, yummm…
My parents always that say that they don’t want any presents. But none? That’s not my style. So I always try to find something really nice and sweet and something they can actually use or enjoy. Like chocolate or sweet cream liquor. And since my dad loves simple, minimalistic watches, I always think about giving him a new one. My mother, on the other hand, loves picture books and Japan, so this book about gardens in Japan would be the ideal gift for her. Just like a beautiful perfume of which she mainly loves the beautiful flacons.
Okay, I really don’t need any of these things, but if I could make a wish for material things, these would be them! Perhaps, Santa Claus is reading my blog after all and I wouldn’t wanna miss out on those chances. The small monogram bag by YSL is something I’ve been lusting after forever, and one day, it will be mine. Let’s see when that’ll happen. But perhaps, the new book by Jonathan Safran Foer, “Here I Am”, is more realistic. I love his novels, so this one is a must read for me. I really can’t wait, I’ve read good reviews about it.
And you? Have you already bought all your presents? And what is your personal wish for Christmas? I mean, material one. I’m not talking about the other things that we wish for much more strongly – like health, world peace and no more hunger. But that is another story… I’m really looking forward to all your comments, sweeties!
