Talking with the brand executive of TRIANGLE.
My sweeties, I’m so excited to be able to give this post to you all today! Today marks the beginning of a new and really lovely collaboration between our blog and TRIANGLE*, a fashion brand that you might remember from this outfit post or maybe also from this article here from last year. Do you remember this? I was a big fan of TRIANGLE in 2016 already and am so happy to be able to work with them again this year!
But what is it all about? Well, together with TRIANGLE, I’ll sit down in the next months and have some great interview with a couple of really inspiring ladies (girl power!). That means, until January of next year, you’ll get six different interviews with six totally different women and all of them so interesting to read. Not too bad, eh?
In these interviews, we’ll talk about the ladies’ jobs, their experties in their fields, talk some real girl stuff and some very important topics. Of course, we’ll also have a go at fashion and talk about TRIANGLE as a brand. And since the beginning has already been made, I won’t let you wait any longer.
Here comes the first interview of the sessions in which I’m talking with Martina Schulte-Block, Global Business Director of TRIANGLE, and it’s all gonna be about her business, her personality, about fashion and the expression of the one within the other.

Interview with Martina Schulte-Block:
Ricarda: Dear Martina, to start, do explain your profession, if possible in one sentence.
Martina: My profession is basically some kind of VERY broad project work. At the beginning of an idea, we always picture our customer before our inner eye and how to get her attention across all channels at once. Our goal and aim is to hear our customers’ needs and wishes and to meet her eye to eye.
R: Describe yourself in three words, please.
M: Emotional and strong, loving and determined, stubborn and ambitious. It’s really hard to only use three words as I’m made of lots of opposites which support each other pretty well. They have turned me into the person I am today. Through the years, I have learned to accept myself as I am, with all my strengths and my weaknesses.
R: What do you think do other people appreciate most about you?
M: To inspire people and spread my excitement is my passion. By doing so, I ask a lot of myself and of others, but I’m living and sharing my humanity and my emotions. I believe that is what others also appreciate about myself – both in my business and in my personal life.

R: What means fashion and in comparison to that, personal style, to you?
M: Fashion is supposed to express a certain emotion or mood, often as part of a situation and it is always in flux. Personal style transports, in my opinion, your own views and values. These can change over the years and shape us in the long term. However, both fashion and personal style are a definite part of ourselves and mirror our multifaceted personalities.
Here at TRIANGLE, it is our mission to be part of our customer’s journey, to take her seriously and to inspire her to find her own individual style. Here, too, we care not only about fashion, but also about the complexity of an individual personality.
R: What do you enjoy most about your job as brand executive at TRIANGLE? Which possibilities and freedoms does this position offer you?
M: The coolest thing about my job is the fact that I can turn an idea at the beginning of a project into reality. I develop the strategy from the product over marketing until the sales side of the métier. I get fantastic support by my lovely team and all of them are putting just as much sweat, blood, love and tears into the brand as I do. Together, we want to fix everyone to the TRIANGLE-Spirit. I love and am in love with what I’m doing. A current example for such a project would be our beautiful new TRIANGLE online-shop*. Since the 14th of August, it is online and we are so excited to make our positive spirit available on yet another new platform.

R: How did you come to be working in fashion? How did it all start?
M: As we all know, it always comes as you wouldn’t expect. My initial plan was to become a nurse. But since there weren’t any free spaces for traineeship, I decided to start a traineeship in merchandise. At this point, I was only 18 years old. But I was lucky that my boss back then pushed me all the time and gave me so many opportunities to learn new things at all times. She really wanted me to become her right hand assistant and so, one thing came to another. My need to help people, which was the main idea back when I wanted to become a nurse, is something I still live – in another way. With the brand TRIANGLE, we want to give women inspiration, but also perfect fits for every body and honest, authentic support and guidance. In short, we want to help women find trendy clothes, in which they can feel perfectly like themselves.
R: Which pieces from the current TRIANGLE-collection would you wear for a business-meeting?
M: During the last couple of years, the business dress code really loosened up – luckily. We do not necessarily need to choose between a suit, blouse and knee-length pencil-skirts only, which is great.
Since I’m working in the fashion industry, I would probably choose a cool blouson jacket with Asian print, combined with a silver plisée midi-skirt. In another profession, this might be a little too much for a business-meeting. Then, I’d still wear the blouson but maybe with a dark, straight cut pair of trousers.
We at TRIANGLE create fashion in which women can feel really well and only if you feel great, you can also present yourself in a confident way. My tip is to choose an outfit that fits your personality, which looks great on you and do dare to wear some colour from time to time! Colour harmonies make you look beautiful and shine from the inside out.

R: What are your TRIANGLE key-pieces for the upcoming autumn/winter season?
M: TRIANGLE offers a modern women brand casual chic with legère, feminine coolness, which gives women the feeling to always be fashionable and well-dressed. In a perfect fit of course, which suits their individual lifestyle and personal taste. My favourite look for the upcoming autumn/winter season is our biker jacket, combined with a feminine tencel blouse with playful details. This look is being perfected by a pair of grey denim in an ideal fit. The statement jacket with floral stitches is an absolute must-have and can already be found in my wardrobe. It can be styled endlessly and for all occasions, supports the personality of its wearer and just makes you feel happy – try it!
R: Do you have your own signature-look? Something that is totally you?
M: Well, I like to say “the more, the merrier”, so I always choose great statement-pieces à la Iris Apfel. What a great, inspiring person, who fascinates women throughout the generations!
With cool glasses, jewelry and unique shoes, I like to give my easy outfits a certain Martina-touch. It really doesn’t matter if it’s high-end designer pieces or no-name eye-catchers, both can be great! The main thing is, that they have to give my look a statement and suit my personal style.

R: Do you have a carreer tip for young, ambitious business ladies?
M: To be the forerunner of an idea has been part of my life since I can remember. My confidence helped me, to be fine with being different from the others and also feel fine with swimming into the other direction. Authenticity is contagious, because only if you believe in yourself and your ideas, you can also convince others from your ideas. That is the sparking moment. Furthermore, creativity, courage, power and spontaneity really good characteristics to make it big in your business.
R: Do you have a life motto?
M: See change before it comes or make the change yourself, take this change and make something out of it – that is my motto!
R: How do you calm down after a stressful week? Do you have rituals?
M: My job is a privilege and I am thankful for all the things I could accomplish already. To always remind youself of this thankfulness puts many things in life in relation and leads to inner relaxation.
In my private life, I have introduced myself to a very simple, but helpful ritual that I follow every morning. I make myself with all the time and with love a ginger tea. I cut the fresh ginger into really small pieces and do every step in a very conscious way. This is my way of looking after my body and to do myself something good, even if it is only something very small. In this moment, I have time to follow my thoughts and to get myself together for a busy day.
R: Where is your personal happy place?
M: My happy place isn’t a place. It is more a feeling that I get when I’m surrounded by people that are close to my heart. But I’m not only talking about people from my private life, it is also people from my team or personalities that I meet during my travels. Simply people, that make me grow inside through their mentality and their way of inspiring me – that are giving me a good feeling.
