My dearies, if you are like me, you’ve probably been wondering, too, how to get that special glow into your make-up looks come autumn and winter when the lighting is bad and the days are growing shorter. We don’t want a face that looks all painted-on. Much more than that, we want radiant skin instead of a tired, matte complexion. And we want to play with those beautiful shades of plum and berry and smokey eyes without looking like a gothic-queen.
All those important questions come to mind really quickly once you think about that topic. For the German version of this post, I have prepared a neat little interview with the new Max Factor* make-up artist Melanie Schoene, who is especially there for social media and bloggers (go visit her sites here (Facebook) or here (Instagram)) but for you English speaking folks, I have made a summary of her main points:
1) The main make-up trends for autumn/winter 2015/16 are 90s grunge and berry colours on the lips as well as kohl eyeliner on the lower, inner line of the eye.
2) If you are wondering where to put the focus this winter: eyes or lips, she definitely says lips! But for a long-lasting look, always use lip-liner and a long-lasting lipstick like Lipfinity long-lasting lipsticks by Max Factor.
3) For a nice glow in winter, wear some self-tanning face-lotion on your skin, so you won’t need as much foundation. Too much powder can make your skin look tired. Instead, wear a creme rouge (powder rouge dries-out your skin like face powder) with bronzing-particles.
4) For dry skin in winter, try to use a soft peeling for a good basis. Try not to use too light foundation but try to really make it match with your real skin-colour for an all-natural look.
I hope these hints and ideas will help you a little bit and perhaps you’ll let me know which ones you found most useful. Have a lovely day!
