From the very beginning, we just knew that this road trip through Provence would become one of the most unusual and special trips we would ever take. With our own old-timer car, we drove all the way down to the South of France with the aim to bring the old beauty back home for a couple of days. And that is exactly what we did. The fact that our car didn’t once have any problems is miraculous and amazing and we still can’t quite believe that we didn’t have any troubles with it – despite the super hot temperatures. But it also shows that this car, an old 70s green Citroen, was made exactly for these kind of trips…
After a couple of days of Stand Up Paddling at the turquoise blue Lac du Sainte-Croix, one of our very first stops on our road trip was already one of me most unusual and breathtaking ones: at Château des Alpilles* near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, surrounded by old, beautiful trees, we discovered this incredible Manor with its amazing old-world-charm.
At Château des Alpilles, everything is special: after an incredibly warm welcome by the concierge and staff, we first relaxed during a wonderful lunch at the poolside. It was one of the most tasty meals we had during the whole trip – no kidding! After this refreshment and moment of relaxation, we went and discovered the park surrounding the manor. The shadow- and light play on the floor and walls of the buildings made me think of impressionist painters and the sound of the crickets in the trees made me think of Balinese jungle days. After our walk, our baroque inspired room simply took our breath away and the view from our windows into the green was so relaxing. The afternoon, we spent by the beautiful pool before I had a pre-dinner yoga session in the park. For the grand finale of the day, dinner was served in a beautiful setting in front of the Château which was so beautiful, we couldn’t believe our eyes. The food was also wonderful and after a good night’s sleep, we enjoyed breakfast at the same spot.
Sadly, after breakfast, we had to continue on our road trip and leave the incredible Château des Alpilles, but it was definitely not the last time we paid this place a visit. And we suggest you do the same as this place is definitely worth any trip – no matter how far!
How do you like our impressions from Château des Alpilles and could you imagine spending a beautiful time there as well? We are looking forward to your comments!
