About the perfect place to stay in Paris
Hello sweeties, today I finally want to talk about the lovely boutique hotel Le 123 Sébastopol by Astotel – the place we stayed at during Paris fashion week. And wow, we couldn’t have been luckier. Why? Well, firstly, the hotel with its movie inspired themes is just perfect for a film freak like me and secondly, the staff was among the nicest I’d ever met. Those two things combined with great, clean design, a large room with the best view over one of the prettiest streets in Paris, a very central location and yummy food made our stay truly enjoyable.
Keep on reading if you want to find out more about all the details and hey, if you ever need a really cool place to stay in Paris, this hotel will do their absolute best to make your stay utterly comfortable and unforgettable.
Would this be a hotel after your taste, too? And what are you specially looking for in a hotel when you travel? Let me know!
1. THE LOBBY
Right upon entering, you get the idea. Of course: the reception looks more like you are just about to buy a movie ticket – but back in the old days when tickets were still small and red. Beautiful and bright, stylish and yet clearly inspired by the old movie theaters, this hotel is friendly and warm. When we still had to wait for our room to be made ready, we inspected the whole area: tripods under the glass tables, leather chairs with stitched-in actors’ names, biographies of actors on the wall, a large “ACTION” bulb sign, metal film rolls as side-tables, flashing lights – was I about to become a Hollywood star on the spot? It felt like it! And I loved it, hey, of course. I love old movies and the atmosphere that comes with it.
Fun fact: In the basement, right under the lobby, the hotel has an actual cinema, complete with red velvet chairs and all!!! I really wanted to try it out, buy some popcorn from the popcorn-vending-machine at the entrance of the lobby and watch “2001: A Space Odyssey”. But we didn’t get to that, unfortunately. Well, maybe next time?
2. THE ROOM
Our room was located on the 6th floor and to the side of the street. We couldn’t have been happier about that because we had the sun rising behind the houses on the other side of the street, a balcony in the sun or to enjoy a clear view of the moon at night. Of course, the Rue de Sébastopol was loud, no question, but isn’t that just normal in Paris? I kinda assumed that from the beginning.
The room was spacious, including a large bed, a winter garden and a working table. The interior was beautiful and modern but also inspired by Jean Paul Belmondo, so we had a punching bag and some boxing gloves as decoration in our room, haha. Anyway, what a nice room! We especially enjoyed drinking some red wine on the balcony at night. Paris has never been more romantic than from the top of our hotel!
3. THE BREAKFAST
Sorry, but, can you believe this? Right after a super rich, yummy breakfast including everything you could think of – warm and cold – and all kinds of drinks, the hotel cleaned everything up (and once, before that, even let us sit half an hour longer and have our late breakfast) and opened up a little bakery buffet for the hotel guests to enjoy for free! They offered us cake then, including tarte au citron, éclairs and all kinds of other treats, as well as coffee and cold drinks. Did we ever want to leave the lobby when we had EVERYTHING we could think of just there? Obviously not, hehe. Wow, I was really surprised and happy about this. I’m such a cake-fanatic, haha. How about you? Doesn’t this all look sooo yummy?!
