Just a couple of days ago, Max and I met up with a young couple who told us they are going to get married this fall in Marrakech. What a wonderful idea, I thought. The temperatures will be lovely by then and anyway, it’s just so special to not be getting married in your home country but somewhere exciting and exotic. And this couple is not the first that decided to be getting married in Marrakech. I should say it has turned into somewhat of a trend for engaged couples to opt for this city instead of home. And of course, while the couple was telling us all about this brilliant idea, I came to think back to our trip to Marrakech just 2 weeks ago and a place that surpassed all our expectations…
Ksar Char-Bagh: a Relais & Châteaux for truly unforgettable moments
Ksar Char-Bagh*, a 10 acres large, Moorish palace in the midst of Marrakech’s palm grove is basically a must-choose place for special occasions like birthdays, brand events and, naturally, beautiful weddings. Indeed, with its sheer breathtaking vastness, the grounds seem to have been made for it. Ksar Char-Bagh offers all the space you could ever wish for, a unique ambiance, great service and exquisit cuisine.
And with all this, it usually only offers accommodation for around 26 guests which is the reason why you get the feeling of being completely private and not being disturbed. At Ksar Char-Bagh, it is never loud, never crowded and there’ll never be a fight for the loungers as there are exactly as many loungers as guests by the pool. It does happen, though, that you’ll be lying by the wonderful pool all by yourself, so if you expect your holidays to be loud, full of music, people and party, this place will probably not be what you’re looking for (except if it is your own wedding party, hehe). But if you are looking for luxury, but also mainly for deep relaxation and calm for your soul, you’ll find true Paradise, just ten minutes drive away from the whirlwind of Marrakech’s Medina.
Also for dinner, we only shared the large restaurant with just three other couples. There was calm, classical music playing and the waiters were super friendly and attentive. The chef even cooked up something vegan for me (a tasty vegetable tajine), even though there were no vegan or vegetarian main courses on the menu.
Unique visual impressions
Everything at Ksar Char-Bagh feels like a painting from a long gone time, mixed with unique modern influences. From the moment that you enter this palace with all its beautiful space, halls and gardens until you walk into the amazing suites with private rooftop or garden with pool, you’ll find that the highest form of luxury is just good enough for this place.
We did spend our days lounging by the pool, walking through the herb and vegetable gardens, exploring and playing tennis and boules. Our evenings, we loved spending on our private rooftop with daybed and lounging area where we watched the sunsets and listened to calm music. If we did feel kind of sporty later on, we enjoyed going down for a few rounds of 8-ball which Max mostly won.
So, if you are either looking for a calm, relaxed luxury holiday or if you are planning a special event abroad, we would totally recommend you choose Ksar Char-Bagh*. It will be a stay you will never forget in your life – promise!
