Fornalutx – a truly unique village

Hundreds of lemon and orange trees and the scent of orange blossom surround this place in which time seems to be standing still. Here, in Fornalutx, where the streets lead up and then down the hill again, the sides of the roads are decorated with countless plants in full bloom. The stones of which the walls of the houses are formed seem old and yet new, well looked-after and simply inviting, just like everything in this village.

By accident, we found the village of Fornalutx on the last day of our Mallorca-trip and we fell in love with this cute place from the first moment. This sweet little mountain village just a couple of minutes drive away from Sóller, is a true gem that we liked even better than Valldemossa. They way they are trying to keep the village look fresh and beautiful even brought them a couple of prices and its location in a valley right next to Puig Major, Mallorcas highest mountain, the climate seems to be perfect for all the various plants that are growing here. And the orange- and lemon-trees that are growing everywhere around the village of Fornalutx turn a visit into a feast for all senses.

Of course, many hiking roads in this area lead to Fornalutx and they are worthwhile, especially in spring.

Have you visited the north-west of Mallorca? And how did you like our impressions of the village Fornalutx?
