My ideas for the correct care of demanding pieces of clothing.
My sweeties, as a fashion blogger, I’ve been interested in the topic of clothing for many years. Next to colour, form, patterns and the workmanship of fashion, I’m of course also very much interested in the fabric of each piece of clothing I own or intend to buy. By now, my favourite fabrics are Kashmir, silk, cotton and jersey.
If you are a haptic person like I am, you’ll of course want your favourite pieces of clothing to last as long as possible – ideally for many years to come. But for that to happen, there is only one solution: the correct way to care for your clothes.
The correct way of laundry care and the correct sorting technique are the most important things.
You not only have to find the right laundry detergent for each fabric, but also the right washing cycle. Of those, our Samsung AddWash* has got many, for all kinds of material and degrees of dirtiness. For example, have you ever washed a silk-piece at 40 degrees? Then you know that afterwards, you could have possibly thrown it to the bin. Sad but true…
But if you just think for a moment, use the right detergent and sort your laundry well, you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite pieces for many years to come.
And with our Samsung AddWash, washing has become so much easier and clearer. The different washing cycles are basically self explanatoriy. Still, I would like to use this opportunity to give you a short overview over my favourite washing cycles and how to use them correctly.
1. Never having to wash wool by hand again!
Until the AddWash moved into our home, I didn’t have a wool washing cycle. The problem with wool is that if you wash it too hot or spin it too fast, it will become matted really quickly and then you won’t be able to wear it anymore. Additionally, wool needs resting phases during the washing. The program “wool” of our AddWash is perfect for the autumn and winter season, since I love wearing merino wool knit pieces.
2. Saving energy for our environment.
Of course, even with an energy efficient washing machine like the Samsung AddWash, you are using energy if the water needs to be heated heavily. Of course, you only need really hot washing cycles for really dirty pieces of clothing, bed sheets etc.. You really don’t need to wash laundy that isn’t that dirty at a high temperature.
Those pieces, you can easily wash with the “Saving Energy” mode to do something good for our environment.
3. Delicate wash – always my favourite washing cycle.
Since I own so many delicate pieces of clothing like lace-bras, dresses made of crêpe silk or silk, the delicate wash cycle is my favourite. It is cool, doesn’t spin too fast and my delicate pieces stay beautiful and good as new for a long time.
Finally, the three factors I named above (correct sorting for colour and material, the right detergent and the right washing cycle) are the most important aspects to keep in mind if you want your clothes to stay as good as new for a very long time.
The Samsung AddWasch does make it really easy for Max and myself, too, to always use the right program for our clothes and by now, we really have got our own favourite washing cycles and with those, our favourite fashion pieces are just perfectly treated.
Do you have any further tips on how to keep your clothing as good as new for a long time? I’m looking forward to your comments!
