When about half a year ago, Max told me what I would be getting for my birthday, we were sitting by our private pool in Bali, enjoying my birthday breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit, bakeries and coffee. On that day, when I turned 31, he told me that at the end of September, we would be sitting at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt/Main and be watching “2001” supported by a live orchestra! Wow!
You’ll have to know that “2001 – A Space Odyssey” by Stanley Kubrick is one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s a masterpiece that until today, has inspired many others of its genre, that truly made a change in Science-Fiction movies and that really makes me watch and listen in awe the many incredible pictures and the perfectly placed music in this perfect piece of movie history. Of course, Kubrick was a visionary, we all know that, but that a film would have such an impact for its own genre and society?! Who’d have thought! And thanks to all this, I’ve always wanted to watch this masterpiece on a big screen but as it is already 50 years old, I never had the chance. Until that day and thanks to my love Max!
And now, half a year after my birthday, we drove our Citroën CX to Frankfurt/Main and it felt as if it was my birthday all over again. So lovely.
In Frankfurt, we stayed at the Wohnidee-Suite “Classic Monochrome” of the Radisson Blu* and of course, we wanted to shoot some lovely pictures there as well. The suite fits Max’ and my stile perfectly as it is sooo elegant and dark – a bit like from a James Bond movie – and here we are again: movie topics.
Wohnidee Suite “Classic Monochrome” at the Radisson Blu Frankfurt/Main
“The WOHNIDEE Suite Classic Monochrome offers traditional designs that work in contrast to one another. The use of different materials, such as dark wood, velvet, leather and fur, ensures tactile variety, with the contrasting textures combining harmoniously. A highlight of this stylish suite is the wellness bathroom, which has a free-standing bathtub, a large shower area with a shower-WC from Geberit / Keramag, and contemporary fittings from Kludi for a modern finishing touch.” (Radisson Blu)
Upon arrival, we took some time to settle down and get ready for the evening at the Alte Oper. Afterwards, we enjoyed a little snack and a fantastic bottle of red before we were on our way for a very special night. And we weren’t disappointed: the location was beautiful, the people nicely mixed, the movie great as always and the music so lovely. The famous pieces by Richard Strauss (“Also Sprach Zarathustra”), Johann Strauss II (“The Blue Danube”) and György Ligeti (“Atmosphères”) were on point and you sometimes forgot that there was a live orchestra playing below the big screen where the movie was shown. A perfect composition, truly. After the movie, we returned to the hotel happily and enjoyed our suite a little more with room service and time for just the two of us. In the morning, we also had the chance to taste the incredibly yummy breakfast buffet at Radisson Blu Frankfurt/Main and I even had a swim in the pool at the top of the hotel. Then, sadly, we were on our way back home but this was a day I’ll never ever forget!
Thank you Max for this perfect idea! You gave me one of the best birthday presents ever in my life!
