When we grew as a family in Mai, this was quite a crazy moment. I, a girl who never ever was interested in cars at all and also didn’t like cars very much due to the fact that they help destroy the environment, indeed bought a car for Max and myself!
Unbelievable, isn’t it? But to be fair, this wasn’t any old car that we got, but a very special one that became part of our family: an old Frenchman. Sounds strange at first because, honestly, who’d want an old Frenchman in their family as they are known to be loud and grumpy like: “Ah, mais, non, merde!” and smoke smelly old Gitanes without filter… but still, we got ourselves an old Frenchman.
And yes, our old French guy smells horribly and when you turn it on, it is also pretty grumpy at first, but once you get it going and the wheels rollin’, it’s more like flying across the country roads. Thanks to its hydropneumatic system, it goes easy as if there was not a single stone on the ground. Driving in our car feels more like sitting on an old, 70s cord couch, watching the news. It’s THAT comfortable!
And it’s not only comfortable, it’s also pretty stylish, this old Frenchman. The green is very special and bright – typical for the 70s, of course. And the brown corduroy inside is trendy again, nowadays. Just look at my trousers by & Other Stories, hehe. With the CX, Citroen really invented something innovative for its time. Future as imagined in the 70s, truly. And we love it. We love the look and we love the feel of this car and what could be better than that, right? Even though it’s a smelly old thing, but we’re just too much in love to mind this. We’re not driving it too often, anyway.
How do you like our not-so-usual automobile, the pictures in this post and my quite suitable outfit for this occasion? I’m really looking forward to your comments!
