“Dude, why don’t I just stop blogging altogether?!
My dearies, that thing about blogging is: it’s so easy these days to lose the motivation to do that exact thing you actually love doing and would love to do all day – every day (as a job AND as a hobby): Blogging. Sometimes I think: “Why am I still doing this? Does anybody even care? And what if CATS & DOGS wasn’t there anymore tomorrow? Am I still important in any way for my readers?” Tell me, why is it so easy to lose said motivation despite all the fun blogging gives us?
There are many reasons why it’s easy to lose the motivation to blog:
(and I’m only talking about me here, but maybe you’re a blogger, too and feel the same in some ways?)
– Everyone is gaining followers on social media much faster than yourself and you start to wonder if it’s because you’re not cool enough, don’t have enough expensive shoes and bags, are not skinny enough or just not creative or innovative enough? But nobody really seems to be innovative anymore… so it must be you, your own fault? Should I buy a Chloé-Bag just for Instagram #chloegirls? What the f***?!
– You don’t receive as many comments as some years ago on your blog (my posts used to have around 60 to 100 comments in the “good old days”). But your stories, your pictures and everything else as well is so much nicer and you definitely didn’t lose yourself, don’t feel less authentic or less interesting. You feel that the blog must be so much more interesting for your readers nowadays, so many more stories to discover, so many different types of topics… so how come?
– You were there from the beginning of fashion blogging back in 2007/2008… but now, there are millions of bloggers, youtubers or mere instagrammers that seem to be so much more interesting for the brands you work with or for the readers of course… maybe I’ve become old, maybe I should leave in dignity and leave the arena for the young and wild?
BUT NO! I DON’T WANT TO STOP BLOGGING!
In my heart, I know that even if a beauty post only receives one comment, many people will appreciate the inspiration, the photography, the shopping links…
And I know that, even though less people like my Instagram-Pics than those of other bloggers that always post the same stuff, I know that there are many sweet followers, readers and old friends, that do appreciate to see what I’m up to and just enjoy some updates from my little world.
Unfortunately, the brands and agencies only see the numbers and especially those on planet Insta. Well, let them, I hope I’ll still keep in touch with those that know me well, that believe in me and that have supported me for such a long time… those that know what I stand for:
quality, honesty, passion for my job, friendship and good vibes!
I will not stop just because I feel down sometimes. And why? Not only because of me, but because I love YOU ALL, my sweet readers, just too much!
