Searching for "I am enough"

Mantra Monday – I Am Enough

Am I enough? Enough for my family, enough for my friends, enough for my boyfriend? Shouldn’t I be a lot better, nicer, more open, more lovely? Shouldn’t I be there much more for others around me? And even more importantly: am I enough for myself?

Our society doesn’t think so. After all, we are supposed to always become better and never be content with who and how we are at the moment. We are supposed to better ourselves constantly, because standing still means recline. And thus, we become more and more unhappy with ourselves as we cannot uphold these ideals that our society and we put upon ourselves.

Be enough for yourself

But indeed, understanding that being enough for oneself is so important. It is also one of my most central mantras that I really meditate on a lot. And repeating to oneself: “I am enough” is not about lethargy or laziness. it is not about forgetting about oneself and ignoring everything that is good for oneself. It is about self-acceptance, about liking how and who we. Like, really!

But how to do that? Well, keep repeating: “I am enough” over and over again and try to really feel it, too. Every time you meditate on this mantra, it will become a stronger and stronger feeling within you and slowly, you will start believing and feeling it. Understand that you are not Superman and nobody is expecting you to be that. You are a normal person with normal strengths and weaknesses and that is fantastic and makes you so unique! You are great just the way you are!

How well can you accept yourself the way you are? And how do you like this mantra? Would you use it for your own meditations? Let me know in the comments!

An exciting interior-talk with Judith of lifetime-pieces.com

My sweeties, today, it’s interview-time again. If you haven’t read those first two interviews I did in cooperation with TRIANGLE* already, you can check out interview number one here and interview number two here. But for those of you who have already discovered those first two interviews in the past two months, you can be really excited for today’s interview session number three.

Because today, it’s all about the topics interior and design. For that, I did an interview with lovely Judith whom I’ve been following on Instagram @lifetimepieces for a long time now, and for a while, also on her blog lifetime-pieces.com. For that reason, I was so excited to meet her in person!

I really love interior, architecture and design, so I wanted to ask Judith a thousand questions. But sadly, we didn’t have too much time, so I restricted myself to the most important things I wanted to ask her. In the end, a great interview has come of it and you may read it today. As you can see, we really had a lot of fun doing this interview, too!

So, lean back and relax and enjoy reading this cool interview. I really hope you’ll find it as exciting as I do and perhaps, you’ll let me know in the comments?

Interview with Judith Mosqueira Do Amaral:

Ricarda: Dear Judith, please do explain your job in one single sentence.

Judith: As an interior-designer, I create the interior of spaces like apartments, restaurants and shops.

R: Describe yourself in three words.

J: Creative, curious, authentic.

R: What do you think do other people appreciate about you the most?

J: Funnily enough, I just recently had a talk with two friends on just that topic. Honesty, conscientousness, loyalty and endurance were among those positive qualities that came up about me. Doesn’t sound very exciting but these values are important to me, so I enjoyed that my friends saw these in me.

R: Do your tastes in design, interior and fashion influence each other? If so, how can you see that?

J: Yes, very much. In both cases, I like it clean and minimal. I like enjoy design-classics, both in fashion and design, and like to combine those classics with modern living- or fashion-accessories. I like to mix the old and the new, high and low key, classics and modernism. Most of all, I believe that my looks should always be relaxed. You have to feel good and enjoy yourself.

„I rather save on something special that will last a long time than to follow every trend.“

R: When did you first become interested in design, architecture and interior?

J: I grew up in a family of architects, which certainly supported my feeling for aesthetics and design. Even as a young kid, I enjoyed always re-decorating my own room. And it stayed like that until today. There is nothing more exciting for me than to create a new interior concept. The aim is always to create rooms with form, colour and different materials, that will meet the individual taste of the owner. I want the customers to feel like I reflected their own kind of style.

R: What do you think will be the next big interior trend?

J: Nature and high-tech. This might sound a bit strange at first, but everything is possible these days. Modernism and valued things can be perfectly go together. The trend is using natural materials like wood, marble, terazzo, natural leather and weaved willow. Harsh forms move towards soft, organic ones with matte surfaces. The colours are warm earthy tones, rosé and accents in bright primary colours.

Comfortable living has become more important again, the current ‚Hygge’ trend shows this. We want to spend more time with our families and friends again, to feel comfortable and enjoy the nice things in life.

Together with all that nature and comfort, we mix modern parts like smart home apps that make our living much easier and more technical.

„In every corner, you can find the perfect Instagram-pic here.“

R: As a pro, what do you say about the detail loving interior world of TRIANGLE?

J: It is simply beautiful. You enter and suddely, you feel cozy and almost at home in a combination of light grey, nude and soft rosé. Plants, wood and a cozy carpet make the Hygge-feeling just perfect. A young, modern scandi-style with a lot of love for little details. I love the coffee-table-books, pictures, cushions and decor-elements. In every corner, you can find the perfect Instagram-pic here.

R: Since when have you been blogging and did it chance at all since then?

J: I have been active on Instagram and Pinterest for many years, now. At some point, I got more and more messages with questions about my pictures and I missed the chance of going more into depth with my topics, so I decided to open a blog and write longer articles. Since 2016, I’ve been blogging on lifetime-pieces.com and I enjoy it very much.

R: Ah yes, your blog is called „Lifetime Pieces“ – what are your favourite pieces that you have been owning for a long time already?

J: There are a few design-classics, like my Arco arch lamp, my tulip chairs and the Pipistrello lamp. Those are timeless „Lifetime Pieces“, simple and elegant. I really admire those old masters of the Bauhaus Era, who created such perfect designs about 60, 70 years ago, that are still absolutely relevant today.

R: Which three TRIANGLE-pieces from the current collection do you find especially „instagrammable“?

J: I love stripes very much. They are timeless and always instagrammable. TRIANGLE currently offers very lovely striped pieces at the moment like the cozy long-cardigan with front-patches, the blue, striped trousers and the striped burgundy red scarf. Stripes on stripes on stripes. Those, by themselves, very classic pieces turn into something super exciting when they are combined with each other. A look that I am seeing a lot at the moment, both online and offline.

triangle stories interior lifetime pices talk girlstalk scandi minimal design chic minimalistic swedish styling fashionbloggers interiorblogger cats & dogs modeblog düsseldorf 5

„I love the burgundy red scarf as a colourful detail.“

R: Which of your clothes would you describe as modern classics – as „Lifetime Pieces“?

J: My trench coat, the Reissue Flap Bag and all my striped shirts. True classics in their simplicity. I have been wearing them for decades and they never get old but survive every trend. This is what turns them into such special pieces.

I really feel so well in this kind of outfit, because in this way, you’re never over- or underdressed. You can wear it casual with jeans and loafers or sneakers or more elegant with a black skirt and pumps.

R: Which new favourite piece did you discover in the current TRIANGLE-collection?

J: My favourite is the creat striped navy pair of pants. A beautiful classic for every occasion that I believe belongs into every closet. For a business-meeting, I’d combine it with a white blouse, for a home-office day, with a casual shirt.

triangle stories interior lifetime pices talk girlstalk scandi minimal design chic minimalistic swedish styling fashionbloggers interiorblogger cats & dogs modeblog düsseldorf 4

„Again and again, my beloved striped shirts – […] true classics…“

R: Do you currently have a colour scheme that you enjoy the most?

J: Oh, there is this lovely quote from Coco Chanel:

“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”

This is basically what I’m thinking, too. In my home, I really enjoy the #allwhiteeverything style and in a fashion outfit, I believe nothing beats a classic black and white look.

But in my closet, you can also find blue, grey, nude and camel. Perfect colours to mix and match among each other. In this way, you can create lots of different outfits with very few single pieces of clothing.

But I love red on my lips and nails and yellow in my accessories like scarfs or bangles.

triangle stories interior lifetime pices talk girlstalk scandi minimal design chic minimalistic swedish styling fashionbloggers interiorblogger cats & dogs modeblog düsseldorf 3

„Sometimes, a gesture says more than a thousand words.“

R: Do you have a life motto?

J: Yes, clearly: „Less is more“. That sentence suits so many areas, because minimalism makes life so much easier. When it comes to interior, it is truly important to me, but also when it comes to fashion and design. In my flat and in my closet, I am always sorting out all those things that I don’t need anymore and that makes my life so much lighter and easier. It helps you focus on the most beautiful and important things in life. This is also true for real life. Sometimes, a gesture says more than a thousand words and trusting your intuition on some things might bring you further than working on something for weeks and months and making it more and more complicated in the process.

R: How do you calm down after a stressful week? Do you have rituals?

J: Oh yes, my Friday night ritual relaxes me a lot: cooking something tasty, taking a long bath, getting comfy on the couch with a lot of cushions and watching a nice movie or listening to some good music. Perfect!

triangle stories interior lifetime pices talk girlstalk scandi minimal design chic minimalistic swedish styling fashionbloggers interiorblogger cats & dogs modeblog düsseldorf 2

„In my flat and in my closet, I like reducing the amount of things to those that I truly and really need or enjoy looking at.“

R: Where is your personal happy place?

J: My happy place is at the sea. For me, there is nothing more beautiful than sandy feet, salty skin, wind in my hair and the sound of the sea in my ears. But basically, my happy place is everywhere when there are people I love around.

R: Dear Judith, thank you so much for this great interview!

5 styling tipps: what to pack for a casual-chic weekend-getaway?

outfit berlin dom museumsinsel denim white blouse parisienne mbym jeanne damas style bangs brunette chic look outfitblogger breuninger loewe joyce bag mcm sunglasses summer german fashion blogger cats & dogs modeblog ricarda schernus max bechmann foto 7

How easily you’ll be perfectly dressed for a short weekend getaway!

My sweeties, after we all had a good laugh in my last blogpost, today won’t be less entertaining, but perhaps a little more educational.

Because today, I have brought along a few tips on what to pack in your hand luggage if you want to get away for a little city trip with your friends or your boyfriend/girlfriend.

You probably do know the scenario: for a short trip, that perhaps lats 1-2 days, you want to be sure that you pack the right things, so instead of maybe 3 outfits, you pack 10 and in the end, wonder why you didn’t wear any of the stuff but really got an aching back from lifting your heavy luggage.

But hey, I have got something to help this problem, because, over the years, I’ve turned into a true hand luggage packing pro and so here come some tips on what to pack into your hand luggage so you won’t have much to carry much, but still have the maximum combination possibilities.

5 x WHAT and HOW to pack for a weekend getaway?

1. Pack 1-2 favourite pieces that you can combine with anything: for me, this would be a perfect pair of jeans and a biker jacket.

2. Choose 2-3 light tops which you can easily combine with your basics. For my jeans, this would be a white, chic blouse, a white t-shirt and a black or navy silk top or camisole.

3. Roll your clothing instead of folding it. In this way, the pieces will look less “out-of-the-suitcase” and you’ll have a lot more storage room in the end, it’s surprising!

4. 3 pairs of shoes are the absolute maximum for a weekend trip! For example, pack one pair of open slippers, sandals or the like, one pair of sneakers or boots and one pair of nice going-out shoes with heels. One of the pairs, you’ll naturally already be wearing on your travel.

5. Pack a little box (I always use a sunglasses case) with your favourite jewelry and watches and perhaps, also a silky scarf, which you can wear around your neck, on your bag or even around your head as an accessory.

Et voilà, these are all the clothes you’ll need for your trip!

You see, in this way, you can create an incredible amount of different looks with the minimal amount of pieces to take along. You can style your pieces in a casual or in a super chic way, just change the accessories. And with all these styling possibilities, you’ll still have enough space in your hand luggage for all the other things you’ll need like underwear, make-up, a book or your phone’s charger. How do you like my tips and the pictures? Do let me know, I’m really looking forward to your comments!

We’re blogging together now – why CATS & DOGS will now be two times as good

couple love lovers cute pärchen gemeinsam bloggen blogger bloggers german blogger menswear blogger menblog bearded men blogger dandy style interview 10 questions cats& dogs man and woman blog lifestyle fashionblog düsseldorf germany styleblog huawei p10 6

A Q&A-game with my Max, who wil now be blogging on CATS & DOGS, too.

My sweeties, today, I really have got some exciting news for you: my love Max, whom you already know from my Instastories and Instagram @catsanddogsblog but also from this YSL beauty post and from this interior article, will be much more present on the blog from now on, writing articles and telling you his own stories.

Why we’ve decided to grow and put Max not only behind, but also in front of the camera? Well, easy: he’s got a lot to say, has a great sense for style in every sense, he know the blogging world from the other side and finally, we’ve also got a good reason why this blog is called CATS & DOGS – he’s the dog, I’m the cat, obviously.

And since we thought that a small interview would be the best way for you all to get to know Max a little better and to introduce him, I asked my love 10 questions which he took the time to answer. You’ll find the interview just a little bit further down.

Do you have any more questions for Max? And how do you like the idea that we’ll be blogging together on CATS & DOGS from now on? Perhaps, you’ll even have specific men-topics that really interest you or your better halves? Do let me know in the comment section!

10 questions for Max:

1.How did you become a photographer? And was that always what you wanted to be?

No, funnily enough, I really never wanted to become a photographer from the beginning. That’s a big difference to many of my colleagues who were ambitious hobby photographers before they become professionals. No, initially, I only wanted to skate!

But after school, I first of all trained to become an electro-mechanical engineer – a training which gave me lots of insight into topics like technology and craft, but I felt that this wasn’t it, you know? But then, chance came and through a friend, I got the chance to do an internship at an advertising photographer’s studio where later, I also got to do my second training to become a professional photographer and cameraman. Finally, I knew what I wanted to be!

After three years of training, I moved to Dusseldorf where I directly started working as a fashion- and beauty photographer in large studios. Since 2009, I’ve been working as a freelance photographer and cameraman.

2. How did you meet Ricarda and learned about CATS & DOGS?

Ricarda and I first met in summer 2014 in Berlin. Back then, I was booked by a beauty brand called Shiseido to document a blogger event on video. Ricarda was invited as a blogger to this event and there, we first met and talked.

After that, we met a couple of times by chance and then, at some point, also privately for a coffee in Berlin. In this way, I slowly got to know more about Ricarda and CATS & DOGS and well, as chance wants, now we’re living together in Dusseldorf.

couple love lovers cute pärchen gemeinsam bloggen blogger bloggers german blogger menswear blogger menblog bearded men blogger dandy style interview 10 questions cats& dogs man and woman blog lifestyle fashionblog düsseldorf germany styleblog huawei p10 5

3. What interests you most about blogs and blogging?

What most interests me about blogs is the editorial freedom and personal view on all things. It’s impressive how full-time bloggers nowadays can live off their favourite hobby. That’s a great thing!

4. What annoys you most about blogs and blogging? What are the things you’d change?

Most of the time, I’m missing decent standards on blogs. No matter if if’s low standards regarding the picture quality or the writing, this is something that really annoys me because it could easily be done so much better.

But that’s also what I really like about CATS & DOGS: Ricarda always had and still has the highest standards towards herself and her posts and I hope I’ll be able to keep this high standard up in my own posts as well. And I really hope you’ll like my articles!

5. What topics are you planning to introduce to CATS & DOGS in the future?

My interests are many, so the readers of CATS & DOGS can look forward to lots of topics: men’s fashion, men’s beauty, tech-stuff, craftsmanship, sports and in addition to all that, I’d love to write my own column where I can talk about my own opinions on the world and things currently on my mind.

couple love lovers cute pärchen gemeinsam bloggen blogger bloggers german blogger menswear blogger menblog bearded men blogger dandy style interview 10 questions cats& dogs man and woman blog lifestyle fashionblog düsseldorf germany styleblog huawei p10 2

6. Which value will you add to CATS & DOGS? What will change with you on board?

Generally, CATS & DOGS will get a lot more topics which will hopefully be really exciting for both old and new readers. It’s a big step for CATS & DOGS to grow in this way and I hope that this will be a positive development for all sides. Anyway, I’m sure lots of things will stay the same, the readers will only get MORE input, more stories, more topics and more posts!

7. Which topics and persons inspire you on a daily basis?

I’m inspired by many lifestyle-blogs and some selected skill bloggers. One of my biggest blogging here is Phillip Bloom, who talks about camera tech in the most funny, exciting and understandable way. Great British humor and competence.

8. Some favourite brands and labels?

I’m a heavy user of L’Oréal Professionnel, Kiehl’s, Biotherm and Shiseido beauty products, but also of many more. Concerning fashion, I love wearing Carhartt, Vans and Adidas in my free time and when I’m behind the camera. Furthermore, I love accessories by Persol, Daniel Wellington or Victorinox, but there are also so many more brands that really interest me…

couple love lovers cute pärchen gemeinsam bloggen blogger bloggers german blogger menswear blogger menblog bearded men blogger dandy style interview 10 questions cats& dogs man and woman blog lifestyle fashionblog düsseldorf germany styleblog huawei p10 4

9. Some advice for other blogger-boyfriends and -husbands?

Hang in there! Even if the food gets cold again because it needs to be photographed for Instagram first or if your darling has got very specific ideas about the interior of your flat again – simply inhale deeply and smile, hehe!

10. What was your favourite event, travel or project with CATS & DOGS so far?

The most beautiful event was the Shiseido one I talked about before. Without it, I wouldn’t be here with you right now!

Another impressive and unforgettable event was a travel to New York City with Urban Decay. We visited so many iconic places and met amazing new people. Inspiring!

Another great thing was the Mobile Photography Workshop in Berlin with Paul Ripke with Huawei and then, only a few months later, our trip to Spain, also with Huawei for a fashion photography workshop.

And finally, creating our first print feature together for Königsallee-Magazin Dusseldorf was really lovely, too!

Thank you for the interview, my darling!

10 ways to be more productive in the mornings / self-employment

quickcap brain produktiv productivity mornings morgens routine arbeit selbstständig zeitmanagement time management selt-employment full-time blogger fashionblogger lifestyle blogger cats & dogs ricarda schernus düsseldorf germany berlin bloggers home 4

How I managed to me more productive in the mornings while being self-employed!

My sweeties, perhaps some of you know this as well (no matter if you’re self-employed or a student): in the mornings, everything takes a little longer, almost, as if you were moving in slow motion – and suddenly, it’s already 11 o’clock! Oh no, and again, nothing done until midday!

For this not to happen anymore, I have created a list of 10 ideas how to up your productivity level in the mornings. Maybe, you’ll discover one or the other thing that will help you as well?

10 ways to be more productive in your work-flow in the mornings:

1. Regular sleeping- and waking-up hours help you to find a good rhythm for your body (in your iPhone, you can activate “sleeping time” which helps me so much to always go to bed and wake up at the same time every day).

2. Introduce rituals, for example setting your alarm half an hour earlier than you plan to get up. This gives you some time to cuddle or chat with your loved one or (no matter if alone or with your partner) will offer you enough time to slowly wake up.

3. Create a to-do list at the beginning of the week, then, every morning before work, have a look at it, decide which are the priorities and then work from one task to the next.

4. Plan some minutes for sports in the morning (for example Yoga or stretching or other light variations which you can do at home), as it will make you feel really fit and ready for a productive working day.

5. Your favourite music can be so motivating, so right before work, start your favourite playlist or the best radio station!

6. Set yourself many small, but doable goals, like: “Today, I’ll finish answering all unanswered e-mails before 9:30 am.”

7. Treat yourself with a good, refreshing drink in the morning! Quickcap Brain* is just the right thing for me, as it makes me feel mentally strong with Mate-, green tea- and Guarana-extracts. In this way, I can concentrate much better (and it helps me much more than coffee!). By the way, in this article and also in this post, you can read even more on the different variations of Quickcap.

8. No more excuses! If, for example, you set yourself a certain time to do house work or shopping groceries, you’ll be able to do much more brain work before that.

9. Plan in moments of happiness for your body and mind. For example, treat yourself with a nice croissant after two intensive hours or work or a long walk in the sun in the afternoon, when you have been really productive in the morning.

10. And if all of this doesn’t really help anymore and nothing seems to work some days, all you can do, really, is what only self-employed people are able to do: take a break for a day and only do things that you really love and make your mind feel free again, as if it was a weekend-day.

What are your ways to be more productive in the mornings? What are your rituals? And do you recognize yourself in some of my tips? I’m really looking forward to your ideas and answers in the comment section!

3 Ways To Up Your Everyday Styling Game

ootd outfit styling mom jeans momjeans pull&bear grey knit knitwear lace chanel chanel boybag leboy asos striped high heels glamour look relax cozy winter düsseldorf cats & dogs blog ricarda schernus fashionblogger 1

And you’ll really only need to follow these simple tricks

My sweeties, finally, I have a new outfit for you all and it’s also the first one in the new year – exciting! We took these pictures in sunny Dusseldorf, in case you were wondering where the snow was, hehe. I don’t mind the missing snow in the west, though, it’s much easier to walk around in heels like this.

You know, a while ago – actually, around 2 years ago – I decided that I needed to update my wardrobe habits. I used to wear a lot of different styles and colour schemes, went shopping a lot and often, all those pieces didn’t really want to mix and I had many moments of “I don’t have anything to wear!”. When I decided to go for a cleaner, simpler style, I mainly wore only black at first. But as time went by, I discovered that a straight, minimal style could also be accomplished by mixing and matching brighter hues. By now, I love to combine jeans, white shirts and knits, maritime and French style, a lot of navy, grey and nudes. All those colours together with clean cuts can super easily be combined among each other and that makes dressing up in the morning so much easier – I can tell you!

But when you don’t own that many pieces of clothing anymore and combine the same items over and over again, you can also easily get bored. A simple everyday-look can soon feel uninspired, so how do I keep my simple looks exciting enough for myself?

1. I like to style a simple look with one true eye-catcher. In today’s post, it’s the super amazing heels in silver and black – they make the whole look so much more special!

2. I only wear high quality (designer-) bags and my outfit looks much more special and expensive because of that. Maybe it’s only me, but I believe that a well-made bag feels and smells so much better, lasts longer and leaves much more of an impression.

3. If I need to wear a big knit piece (because baby, it’s still winter outside), I like it to have a special little eye-catcher. In today’s outfit, that’s the pretty lace-detail on the pullover, but I also like colour-blocking and zipper or lace-up details on knitwear. Little details make your clothes so much more exciting, don’t they?

How do you make your everyday-outfits more exciting? And how do you like my outfit? Have a lovely weekend, ladies and gents!
